break the cycle
Happy Easter! I have always made it a tradition NOT to have the kind of holidays I had as a kid. I have been creative with my Easters because I remember well the stupid hillbilly Easters we got especially getting our Easter basket made out of a flimsy cardboard box. I make Easter baskets out of things I know the kids can use and when they were younger I used things like a dump truck for my son or a shower tote for my daughter. This year was different, I have always made a basket for Pat and I did not give him an Easter basket because he recently was diagnosed with Diabetes. NO CANDY FOR YOU PAT. I felt so sorry for him because usually by this time in the day he has been packing his cheeks all day with the goodies I put in his basket. It was sad to see him not enjoy that part of Easter. I did get him a small chocolate bunny. It was also different in that I did not put to much stuff in the kids baskets this year (they didnt want very much candy) and I didnt make Janna and Ash a basket they are in their 20s its time to stop already! I came away from this Easter really feeling like I had a flashback of the messed up holidays we had as kids. I hate that feeling its so empty. I refuse to let it ruin my day because I guess if it werent for the cheap ass holidays I had as a kid, I wouldnt have the strong will to "BREAK THE CYCLE" and make my kids holidays something they can enjoy remembering.
